Welcome to the Scholar Development Initiative!

If you or a member of your family have been victimized by systemic injustice, and you are between the ages of 12 and 22, the Global Justice Journal will be honored to to share your voice with the world.  Though society may have turned its back on you, from this point forward, you are not alone.  Regardless of your GPA or test scores, from this point forward, you are a scholar. Our mission is to guide you step-by-step along the path of intellectual discovery as you identify the social justice issues that are most important to you, explore possible solutions, and share your findings through articles that will be published on this web site.  We have an exciting journey ahead, so let's take the first step toward changing the world together!

Please use the form below to introduce yourself. Let us know the topics that are of interest to you  and what you hope to gain from this experience.

Next, you'll be paired with a mentor who shares your passion for social justice and who will walk you through the research and writing process.

Together, you and your mentor will assess your goals and establish a plan to get you there, including benchmarks to measure your progress.

At this stage, you will narrow down a social justice issue that excites you to a specific topic, which you will explore and analyze in depth.

The type of research you conduct will depend on your topic and your grade level. Your mentor will help you acquire all of the resources you'll need.

As you write, your mentor will assist with proof-reading, editing, formatting, and citing sources to ensure your article is ready to be submitted.*

Next, you or your mentor will upload your article for review by fellow scholars,** who will decide if it is publication-ready or needs a little more work.

Congratulations! You are a published author in a scholarly journal and can refer potential colleges and employers to your article on this site.

Whether you write two articles or 20, your world view will be impacted. This is the time to reflect on your experiences and reassess your goals.

*  Young scholars who submit articles to the Global Justice Journal will learn to use the APA referencing style. Articles submitted to the Global Justice Journal will be uploaded through PlagScan's plagiarism detection portal to ensure that all quotes and references are properly cited prior to publication.


**  All submitted articles undergo a peer review process prior to publication.
